Fame by Proximity or Linking

After I found myself bookended between the new books of Carmel Bird and Kate Lance, see links below, I started to think about fame by proximity. It used to be fame by photo with a famous personage. Every Chinese restaurant in Box Hill has a photo of the owner with Jackie Chan.
